Obituary

Joseph W. Davis of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away on October 11th 2020 at home surrounded by
family. Joe was born May 18th 1944 in Springfield MO son of William and Wanda Davis. He
graduated from Westport High school in 1962 and received his BA and Masters in sociology and
anthropology from the University of Missouri.
Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years Patty Davis; his two children Stephanie Wood, of Lee’s Summit
MO; Alan Davis (Tiffany) of Lee’s Summit, MO; seven grandchildren Joseph Wood, Jacob Wood,
Jackson Wood, Julia Davis, Jayden Wood, Anna Davis and Katelyn Wood. Also survived by his sisters
Pat VanBebber, DeeAnna Shamp of Lee’s Summit, MO and brother Kenny Davis of Raytown, MO
and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a lifelong athlete and sports fan but his
favorite place to be was sidelines cheering on his grandchildren at all of their sporting events. Joe
loved his Kansas City teams Chiefs, Royals, Sporting KC and his alma mater Missouri Tigers. Joe was
also an avid golfer and a member of the Men’s Association at Shamrock Golf Course. Memorial Golf
Tournaments are planned for Spring 2021 to benefit his grandchildren’s education and childhood
cancer research.
A visitation to celebrate Joe’s life will be held Thursday October 22nd
2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
at Langford Funeral Home.

Patty & family,
So very sorry for your loss. Take comfort in knowing that your loved one is enjoying his heavenly rewards.

Thoughts and prayers for family and friends, as you celebrate Joe’s life. May God wrap his arms around you and comfort you. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Patty – my deepest sympathy to you and your family. I’m sure Joe’s loss will be close to unbearable for some time. Hopefully, within that time and beyond, your most cherished memories will shine through and you’ll smile at those memories and they will bring you peace. Rest in peace, Joe, you have been well-loved and there’s no greater tribute to a life well-lived.

We always admired Joe Davis!! Such a selfless wonderful man that loved his family with all of his heart and was so devoted in every way.
I loved the beautiful example he set for his family. I know they will miss him greatly and pray they will be comforted knowing they will see him again in heaven.

Joe will be missed by all of us and the world has lost a great person, loving father and grandfather. If only the world was filled with people like him we would have a perfect place. My thoughts and prayers are with you all today and into the future.
