Judith L. Burgess (Judy)
Judith L. Burgess (Judy), 78, died November 30, 2024 at home surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was born September 15, 1946, in Butler, Missouri to Clarence and Iva (Nelson) Hartley.
After attending Butler High School, Judy married John R. Burgess on January 28, 1966. She later developed a love for ceramics and owned her own shop where she sold her creations and taught many classes. Judy was an avid Cherished Teddy collector for many years and her displays were a highlight for everyone.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Jim Hartley, and sister, Janice Diehl.
Survivors include her husband, John, her son, Shawn and wife Christy Burgess, son, Shannon and wife Amy Burgess, daughter, Shelly Burgess, and son, Shane Burgess. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation is Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a service at 11:00 a.m. and a fellowship luncheon to follow at Abundant Life Church, 414 SW Persels Lee’s Summit, MO. Internment at 1:00 p.m. at Floral Hills East, 25203 E US Hwy 50, Lee’s Summit, MO.

I am so sorry for your loss. Judy was a wonderful lady with a big heart. Her and John were a perfect couple. Jeff and I just found out or we would be there. I am not good with words but we send our condolences.
