Obituary

Karen Marie Ventimiglia (nee Frank) passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 at the age of 76. Karen was born November 30,1944 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to Joseph James Frank and Mildred Irene Frank and then lived in California while her Father was a Navy pilot in World War II before moving to Kansas City, Missouri. Karen attended Nativity of Mary School and Raytown High School.

Karen had a fulfilling career beginning as a school nurse at Lee’s Summit Elementary and later a secretary at the Lee’s Summit Board of Education Central Office where she met and cherished many lifelong friends. An annual girls trip to the War Eagle Mill Arts and Craft Fair in Arkansas was a long-time tradition and highlight.

Karen was a loving Mom to three children and six grandchildren and was known as Nanny. Karen was kind and generous with a warm-heart and a playful, fun-loving spirit. Karen was an amazing cook, artistic and crafty. Her home was always warm and welcoming. She was the first to step up when someone was in need and was loved and appreciated by all.

Although Karen’s health had been a challenge for many years she fought hard and continually amazed her children with her incredible strength and courage.

She is survived by former spouse, Charles (Yvonne) Ventimiglia, Jr., children Kristy (Brian) Straeb of Chesterfield, MO, Beth Bulloc of Lee’s Summit, MO, Scott (Stacie) Ventimiglia of Lee’s Summit, MO, grandchildren, Brandon Robert Straeb, Clayton Scott Bulloc, Lauren Marie Straeb, Jordan Caroline Straeb, Ava Marie Ventimiglia, Lyla Grace Ventimiglia, siblings Barbara Haug, Mark Frank, Larry Frank and Carole DeMar.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph James Frank, Mildred Irene Frank (nee Guyant) and her brother David Allen Frank.

Dearest Ones,

Joe and I offer our deepest sympathy to your beautiful family. Karen, Nanny, as I knew her with the girls, was always fun loving and playful. I loved her warm gentle personality and kind spirit. Our love and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Joe and Janet Sansone

To Kristy and all of your beautiful family,

I have so many wonderful memories of being at Karen and Chuck’s home growing up! Karen always made me feel welcome. Your family has felt like family to me for decades. I know she loved all of you very much. I always enjoyed seeing her smile and getting a hug from her when I saw her at your home in recent years. Sending you love and prayers. I wish I could be with you for the service. David and my Mom send along their love and sympathy too.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother, she had a sweet soul and a loving heart. She loved you Scott and Kristy and Beth like only a mother could. Hold on to all the memories.

Our condolences to family for the loss of Your Mother.
It leaves a space in your minds vacant, but Memories, Pride and Love will surround the aura of thoughts.

Scott and family, I share your sorrow and wish I could attend the services, but I am unable. Please know you all are in my prayers.

My deepest condolences on the loss of your mother and beloved “Nanny”. I loved watching Karen “light up” just being around her family and having fun with her precious grandchildren. Scott, Stacie, and Kristy-as your mom’s health declined you took EXCEPTIONAL care of her-that is a testament to the type of mother she was! She is your guardian angel now and will protect you fiercely.

Love Maria
