Obituary

Kenneth Ray Cobb of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away July 28, 2023, at 8:15pm after complications arising from cardiomyopathy.

Ken was born in Booneville, MO on November 20, 1947, and was the eldest child of Everett and Melva Dean Cobb of Tipton, Missouri.  In 1965 Ken graduated from Tipton High School with fond memories of running the 440yd dash on a cinder track and playing basketball.  After high school he enlisted and served 4 years in the Air Force as a flight mechanic for the 56th special operations wing, first detachment technician.  He was honorably discharged on November 21, 1971.  Following his military service, he completed multiple studies and certifications in technology – ranging from typewriter repair, computer hardware and software support.  Ken’s first job was as a typewriter technician working on Underwood Typewriters in Kansas City.  Kickstarting a lifelong career in computer software, Ken medically retired from work in 2004 due to health complications.

In 1971, Ken met Ruth Price of Columbus, Georgia, in Kansas City, Missouri.  Married in 1973, the two welcomed Rachael Elizabeth Cobb, on November 20, 1977.  Affectionately known as “Pa” – Rachael and Ken went on to share the same birthday for 45 years.

Ken’s hobbies and pastimes included networking computers, troubleshooting computer issues for friends, photography, and his most avid pastime: sailing.  He spent many years sailing his boat at Lake Jacomo with family and friends.

I am sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. I remember him as being exceedingly kindhearted, funny, inquisitive and devoted to those around him. He will be dearly missed.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Ruth and Rachel as well as his family. I first met Ken in the mid 60’s and enjoyed doing activities with him. I would see him occasionally at work when he came to repair equipment. I know he will be missed. I have many memories of fun trips and activities.

Rachel,
Deepest Sympathy. My thoughts and prayers are will you and your mom. Hold on to all the love and good memories. May you find peace and comfort.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I will be thinking and praying of you in the days ahead. Much love to you, Christy.

To the family of Kenny Cobb:
We are sorry for your loss and send our deepest sympathy. His family and ours visited many times with our parents as children. Kenny, Donnie and Beverly are my 2nd cousins, their father was my cousin. Also we extend our sympathy on the passing of Melva Dean so close to Kenny. We regret never meeting you Ruth and Rachel.
Prayers, Sharon & Dorsey Shackelford
