Obituary

Kenneth Walter Glenn, age 62, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at home.

Ken was born on January 10, 1963, in Tucson, Arizona, to Robert Glenn and Betty Jean Rhodes. From an early age, he developed a love for people, competition, good food, and finding joy in everyday moments. Due to his father’s service in the Air Force, he grew up in many different locations before completing his high school years in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Ken served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Milan, Italy, from February 1982 to August 1983. His time there sparked a lifelong love for Italian culture, travel, and especially food. Ken never met a menu he did not want to explore and believed the best way to experience the world was one meal at a time.

After returning home, Ken attended Brigham Young University, where he met the love of his life, Kimberly Jo May. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 18, 1986. Ken graduated with dual bachelor’s degrees in marketing and Italian and went on to enjoy a successful career in medical sales for over 30 years. He spent his career going above and beyond for his customers and co-workers. He devoted much time and care into building strong relationships. There was nothing too inconvenient for him. He often said “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”

Ken and Kim raised their five children in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Ken wore many hats in the community, both figuratively and literally, a fact reflected in his collection of more than 100 baseball caps. He served as Bishop of his local congregation, Treasurer of the Ministerial Alliance for more than 20 years, and volunteered countless hours coaching youth sports, especially tennis. He was happiest when cheering from the sidelines, whether it was for his kids, grandkids, BYU sports, or KU basketball. Game days were serious business, always accompanied by laughter, commentary, and countless hours of analyzing and reanalyzing every moment of the game.

Ken found joy in simple pleasures. He rarely passed a QuikTrip without grabbing his favorite drink and a hot dog. He loved traveling the world, discovering new foods, and sharing stories from his adventures. He found joy in living his faith, serving others, playing tennis, attending sporting events, watching hallmark Christmas movies, and running any race that would add hardware to his collection. He was competitive to the core and loved playing any game, but mostly winning. Ken never missed the important moments, but also loved to call his wife and kids just to chat about any small thing that came up during his day. Above all, he loved his family fiercely, took great pride in being a husband, father, and grandfather, and always cherished time spent together.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Glenn, and his older sister, Roberta Loghry. He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Jo May; his children, Karalee (Aaron), Katy (Jeff), Kristen (Nick), Kevin (Mikal), and Kourtney; and his grandchildren, Keith, Preston, Wesley, Crewe, Daniel (Karalee), Sterling (Katy), Rhett (Kristen), and Aliyah (Kevin).

Ken will be remembered for his faith, love of the Savior, devotion to family, generosity, competitive spirit, and sense of humor. He spent his life serving others quietly and faithfully, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. We miss him immensely, but his legacy lives on in the people he loved, the lives he touched, and the many memories shared around tables, sidelines, and family gatherings.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a service to follow on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

To the family of Ken Glen
I had the pleasure of working with Ken for many years as our account rep for our medical supplies. He was great to work with and had such a kind heart. We will miss him at Shirkey Nursing & Rehab.

Ken Glen Family-
I have know Ken for many years and enjoyed working with him and against him. He was a great guy!

What a great older brother Ken was. He will be so greatly missed. We were so fortunate to get to see him just a few months ago. God speed big brother.

Ken, thank you for being my second dad. I will never forget all the funny “Ken-isms” you did, like pretending to hit your head on the kitchen cabinet and setting off the panic on your car to embarrass us. Thanks for having me over to play games even when your daughter Kristen (my best friend) wasn’t even home! I can’t wait to play a few rounds of “spit” with you in heaven, and I’m so glad I got to see you one last time recently. I also love that that last visit happened to be at good ole Pizza Street. You left us too soon and we will miss you so much.

Glenn family, I love you all so much! Thank you for allowing me to support you doing this hard time. I would do anything for any of you!

Love and prayers,
Jamie

Dear Karalee,
We are so sorry for the loss of your dear father. We wish you peace and strength as you go through this difficult time. May your memories bring you comfort and happiness. He will live on in your heart and memories forever.
Love you,
Susan and Louis

So very sorry for your loss. Have fond and great memories of Ken and am comforted by his faith in God and eternal love of family. May our Father in Heaven continue to bless you all in the coming months and years to know Ken is always close by.

so very sorry to hear of Ken‘s passing. I had the pleasure of working with Ken and also competing against him. It was a pleasure to know him and I feel for your loss! Prayers to you all.

Dear Kim and Family,
Ken was one of a kind! Each time I was in your home, he made me feel part of your family. I remember how he loved sports and was shocked of my basketball knowledge, but he loved it. We spent New Year’s Eve at your house. I will always remember how we tricked Kennedy into thinking it was midnight before it was, so we could get her to go to sleep early, have a baby sitter come over, then head to your house for fun and games. I have always enjoyed seeing your beautiful family in your Christmas card. Thanks for including us. This Christmas will be hard and every Christmas for some time. Ken finished his earthly too soon, but he will be waiting for you and your family to join him. Keep his memory alive, as I know you will. You will often feel him close to you. Sending so much love and hugs at this difficult time! Much love, Bethany and J.R Stewart

Ken coached my granddaughter Helen as if she were one of his own children. He went above and beyond to travel to her matches All over. She was able to attend college and play tennis. What a terrible loss.

When we moved to Kansas City, Kim and Ken took us right in to their inner circle and we immediately felt like we had family in town. We have since lived in three other states in the past 25 years and Kim and Ken still feel like family. Ken will be be greatly missed, but of great value on the other side of the veil. I will forever hold in my mind a vision of Ken with his childish grin, and always giggling. He was such a light and joy to all. Thanks for the kindness, friendship, laughs and memories Ken. We love you and the entire Glenn family.

I had the pleasure of working with Glenn, he was a wonderful man. He was always positive and made sure everyone knew it. So sorry for your loss, he will be terribly missed.

Dear Glenn Family,
Our hearts are broken to hear of the loss of Ken.
He had a great impact in our lives!
Ken taught me while I was in the MTC starting my mission to Italy. Such a fun and caring teacher!
After my mission, I had the privilege of being hired by Ken to be a teacher in the MTC. Tim had been working with Ken and been a friend to him for over a year when I was hired and set Tim and I up. We have been married for 36 years. Guess it worked Ken!
Kim we especially send you our love!
We remember Ken for his kind, fun-loving nature and his love of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Till we meet again Ken!

Tim and Shalynn Cross

I am so sorry for your loss. Your family has always been special to us. We pray that you have the strength during this time.

We love you-

A cherished memory from Italy
Dear Glenn Family,
Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of Kenneth. I recently came across his obituary, and while I have not seen Ken in over forty years, I felt compelled to reach out and share a memory that has stayed with me all this time.
I met Ken in Treviso, Italy, back in 1982, when I was just a 15-year-old boy. He was living in an apartment right across from mine. To me, he was the “classic American” I had only ever seen in movies—full of energy, incredibly kind, and always ready to play. We spent time together shooting baskets, and I still remember how impressed I was by his ability to dunk a tennis ball into a basketball hoop!
What I truly cherish, however, is that he never pressured me with his faith. He simply chose to be a friend. We talked about everything: music (he loved the Italian singer Angelo Branduardi), his girlfriend in Livorno, and life in general. He even gifted me an old camera, a gesture of friendship that I have never forgotten.
I am now a man, but I still carry the memory of that 19-year-old boy from Wyoming who made a 15-year-old Italian kid feel special. His kindness, his competitive spirit, and his genuine warmth left a permanent mark on my life.
I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing him with the world, and specifically for the small, beautiful part of his life that he shared with me in Treviso.
With sincere sympathy,
Daniele Villanova
