Obituary
Lana Lee (Hanssen) Wright of Lee’s Summit, Missouri went to Heaven on December 9, 2025 at age 74. She was born October 3rd, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri to Frances Hetrick and LeRoy Hanssen. She grew up in Independence Missouri, attended Messiah Lutheran school, and graduated from Truman High School in 1969. As a young lady, she enjoyed playing violin and participating in Pep Club.
Lana was an active and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and wife. She loved tending to her flowers, watching birds, traveling, reading books, and most of all spending time with family and friends. She never missed an opportunity to be present at a soccer game, concert, baptism, cheer competition, debate competition, birthday party, trick-or-treating, and the like. If you needed her, she was there. She traveled around the country and the world and took her grandkids on trips to New York, Disney World, Yellowstone, Washington DC, Chicago, Colorado, and France. She also enjoyed many cruises and international trips with her loving husband, Jack, including Italy, Germany, and Norway.
From 1972 to 1984, Lana was a stay-at-home mom until she began working in the office at Birchwood Baptist Church. In 1987, she transitioned to a career in the marketing department at Saint Luke’s Health System. She went on to serve as Assistant to the President & CEO and Director of Governance, continuing her career with Saint Luke’s until her retirement in 2022, some 35 years later. She established treasured lifelong friendships along the way, both at church and at work.
Lana is survived by her husband, Jack Wright, who she married on June 1, 1991. She was blessed to have a large family – children: Jennifer (& Adam) Butler, Brad (& Neffie) Wilson, and David (Jen) Wright. She also had a number of grandchildren: Eric (& Sam) Schweisberger, Emily Butler (Jake Beckner), Ethan (& Jasmin) Butler, Julia Butler; Cole, Ben, Abby, and Tobias Wilson, Lilya and Owen Wright, and great grandsons Rory and Lou Butler-Beckner, and several loving nieces and nephews. A staple in her life was the sisterhood she enjoyed with her two younger sisters, Laura Textor and Lynn Ballard, who sat by her side day after day in the last months of her time on earth. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her.
A visitation will be held at Langsford Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with funeral service at 11:30 a.m., and burial following at Longview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Mother’s Refuge or City Union Mission.
