Obituary

Larry Thomas Dennison, 82, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away on June 17, 2026, in Chandler, Arizona.

Born on October 16, 1943 in Keokuk, Iowa, he was the son of Thomas Sidney Dennison and Alice Virginia Dennison (Smith).  He grew up with several members of his immediate family in Keokuk and eventually made his way to Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Larry graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1961 and went on to have a fulfilling career as a Millwright at Bendix Corporation, General Motors, and then Amazon.com. Outside of work, he was deeply passionate about Freemasonry, pursuing family genealogy, BBQ brisket, his Arizona Rattlers & KC Chiefs, & he didn’t miss many NASCAR races!

Larry was known for always having a witty response and an open ear to offer opinions.  He had many friends over the years with whom he made many fond memories.  He had a generous spirit and would always think of others before himself, especially when it came to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  His boisterous laugh brought immense joy and warmth to everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him over the years.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Sue Dennison (Hopper), by his parents, Tom and Alice Dennison, and by his 4 beloved dogs Pokey, Jax, Kacee, and Luna.  He is survived by his children Rhonda Garner (Rich) of Harrison, AR; Tom Dennison (Leigh Ann) of Hollister, MO; and David Dennison (Stacey) of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren Jacy Garner of Harrison, AR; Jenna Lewis (James) of Branson, MO; Janie Loftin (Ryan) of Branson, MO; Adam Dennison of Springfield, MO; Lorelei Dennison of Phoenix, AZ; and many great grandchildren.

I met Larry in 1963 after he married my best friend, Janet.
I loved them both and thought of them as family. We had so many wonderful times together and many trips back and forth from Missouri and Colorado when I relocated to Denver. We then had to make bets on the Chiefs and Bronco games and seldom missed rubbing in the winner. I have missed Janet so much and wish I had been able to travel to Arizona to see Larry before he passed. I will always treasure the memories and their wonderful friendship. See you both again one day❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Larry you were such a sweet & loving guy. Your hugs were the best ever, I always looked forward to them when I seen you. You will truly be missed. Sending you forever hugs friend. Lots of love to you.

I will never forget the many years of friendship and mentorship that you offered me. A somewhat rocky start turned into decades of friendship and brotherly love. I will never forget many of the lessons that you taught me and the times that we shared.

Tom – So sorry for your loss. I never met your Dad, he sounds like an awesome guy. He did raise you and you turned out to be a pretty good egg! Keep the happy memories and honor your dad by “living one helluva good life” My thoughts and prayers are with you and the whole family. Kathy
