Obituary

Lenora Emmogene “Genie” Surber, 88, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in Lee’s Summit. A visitation is scheduled from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Holden Cemetery in Holden, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to John Knox Hospice or St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lee’s Summit.

Genie was born October 11, 1930 in Boonville, MO. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, friend, and devoted Christian. When Genie was not creating a new recipe or taking care of her family in one way or another, she enjoyed serving in her church, St. Matthew Lutheran. For many years, Genie helped arrange flowers at the church and enjoyed fellowship with the congregation.

In her younger years, Genie loved to roller skate and would share the stories of her love for the sport with her friends and family. Genie will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Letha Sommers; brother, Charlie; and loving husband, Jim Surber. Survivors include her two children, Rick Surber and Carla Brown; brother, Wayne; grandchildren, Laura, Josh, Justin, Nicholas, David, Matthew, and Alicia; and nine great-grandchildren.
