Obituary

Lilly Dolores Dawson Bassett, 86, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Golden Years Care Center in Harrisonville, Missouri. Visitation and Funeral Service will be on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in the Lee’s Summit Cemetery. There will be no graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any hospice organization that touches your heart.

Lilly Dolores Bassett was born in Osceola, Missouri, to Lillian and Espie Dawson. She grew up in the Harrisonville area and graduated from Harrisonville High School. She married Howard Dale McBride, of Harrisonville, and they had one son, Steven Douglas McBride. She worked various jobs including Farmer’s Insurance and Unity Village School of Christianity, where she met and married Arthur Harold Bassett. She later worked for numerous years at Stringer’s Utility Safety Company and Carter Creations until she retired. After retiring, she enjoyed taking care of those in need at the Le Grand Retirement Village, where she also resided for nearly 35 years. She enjoyed picture scrapbooks, reading, gardening, and sharing in her family’s daily activities.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Howard, her second husband Arthur, and her long time friend James Reed, along with her mother and father, and each of her six siblings. She is survived by her son Steven and wife Monica, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren.
