Obituary

Loretta Rose (Brice) Horn, 86, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. She now joins her beloved husband, Alfred J. Horn, in heaven on what would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Loretta had a warm smile for everyone she met and a natural gift for making people feel welcome. She expressed her love through countless small acts of kindness—always thinking of others, offering a helping hand, or doing little things that made people feel cared for and welcome at home. Even through the challenges of dementia, she continued to recognize those she loved and took joy in introducing and connecting people.

She devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Nothing brought her more pride than her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world.

Loretta was a Lillis High School graduate, class of 1957. A lifelong Catholic, Loretta’s faith was a steady and guiding presence in her life. She was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Parish, where she found community, comfort, and purpose.

Loretta is survived by her four children: Douglas Horn; Cheryl Lalumandier and her husband Craig; Don Horn and his wife Liz; and David Horn and his wife Shelsea. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Luke Lalumandier, Jake Lalumandier, Amelia Horn, Eliza Horn, and Sophie Horn.

She is further survived by two brothers, Bill Brice and Bob Brice, and one sister, Jane Scott.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Jack Brice and Paul Brice; her sisters Mary McDonald, Terry Maize, Ginny Dean, and Jean Hayde; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law Bob McDonald, Walter Dean, Bill Maize, Jack Scott, Steve Hayde, Yvonne Brice, Bettye Brice, and Mary Brice.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 SW State Route 150, Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Burial will follow at Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery, 806 SE 3rd Street, Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

I am one of the many first cousins of Loretta. So sorry to hear of her passing. I remember her as the youngest of her family, just as I was. My heart goes out to her family and siblings. Every loss is painful.

Our deep condolences to you all. Knowing Don and Sophie leaves no doubt that Loretta raised kind, strong, and noble children and grandchildren. Wishing peace and comfort to your family and to Loretta in her rest.
