Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Loy  F. Rowland, who departed this world on December 17, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on April 14, 1938, to the late Faun and Etta Rowland, Loy was a beacon of kindness, humor, and humanity in the lives of all those he touched.

Loy led a life marked by generosity, faith, and abiding love for his family. He married his enduring love, Jane Rowland, in 1971, and their union was blessed with a daughter, Liza. Loy found great joy in his family, and his bond with his son-in-law, Bruce Zollars, and grandsons, Colton and Cameron Zollars, and granddaughter Grace Zollars was a source of pride and gratification.

He graduated from the University of Kansas City, now UMKC, with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1961.  Loy was a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmacy Fraternity and contributed significantly to his profession. His dedication, commitment and expertise in his field were admired by those who worked with him. He maintained his pharmacy license and worked for over 50 years.  Outside of his professional sphere, Loy cherished spending time with his beloved pets, doing yard work, and traveling with his wife.  He was also a registered graphoanalyst and enjoyed helping others learn about themselves through their handwriting.  He was also very proud of graduating from the Dale Carnegie School of Public Speaking in 1970. These recreational activities brought him much fulfillment and peace.

Remembered for his jovial nature, Loy had a knack for making people laugh, lightening the mood, and filling a room with an atmosphere of joy. His generous spirit extended not only to his family and friends but also to his community. Loy’s strong religious faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his decisions and actions. He will be fondly remembered for his heartwarming kindness.

In his memory, and to honor his passion for service, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jane Rowland, daughter, Liza Zollars, son-in-law, Bruce Zollars, and grandsons, Colton and Cameron Zollars, and granddaughter Grace Zollars.
