Obituary
Luvena Kay Parsons
April 21, 1942 – December 12, 2024
Luvena Kay Parsons passed away on December 12, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born Luvena Kay Smith on April 21, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas, and grew up in Russell, Kansas. She met her first husband, Steven Lally, in Russell and they later moved to Lee’s Summit, Missouri where she spent most of her life.
While living in Lee’s Summit, she helped raise her three sons Tron, Travis, and Trevor Lally, and helped care for her parents, Dale Smith and Elma Smith (Krug) later in their lives. During and in between those times she enjoyed talking and doing things with her many neighborhood friends and the friends she made while working when she wasn’t helping care for others.
She later remarried Jack Parsons who she met while square-dancing at the SantaCaliGon days festival in Independence, MO. After they were married, she moved only a short distance away to Kansas City, Missouri, where they enjoyed many more activities together. There, she also met many new friends and neighbors and always enjoyed talking to all of them.
Although Luvena earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching, most of her life was spent enjoying time with her kids and their spouses, playing with her grandkids, talking to everyone, and helping others. Her warm and friendly personality touched the lives of everyone around her.
Luvena is survived by:
- Her husband, Jack Parsons
- Jack’s daughter, Anita, and son, Darrell
- Her three sons, Tron, Travis, and Trevor
- Her grandchildren: Dakota, Brooke, Jake, Jonathan, Griffin, and Anastasia
- Her brother, Denton Smith
A graveside service will be held on December 23, 2024, at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, where Luvena will be laid to rest.
The family would like to extend their thanks to all those who have offered condolences and support during this difficult time.
