Obituary
Lyle Leland Hocker passed away November 22, 2024 of Lewy Body Dementia. He was born April 4, 1937 to Raymond and Margaret Hocker, Northwest of Archie, MO., the youngest of 7 children.
He graduated from Harrisonville High School and was a graduate of U.C.M., Warrensburg, MO with a bachelor’s and master’s degree.
Lyle married Beverly (Whitaker) Hocker in 1960. They had 2 sons, Kevin Lyle and Kary Todd.
Lyle taught Industrial Arts in the Raytown public schools and worked construction in the summer. He built his and Beverly’s house in the summer of 1977 in Lee’s Summit, MO.
He enjoyed woodworking, sports, gardening and traveled to Europe many times and Ireland. His highlight was meeting with friends at Hardee’s, HyVee and a high school friend once a month.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Kary Todd (2013) and Kary’s wife Becki passed away in 2009 with cancer. His oldest son Kevin Lyle (Mary) passed in December 2022. Siblings Glen, Joe, Harold, Nadine & Evelyn.
He is survived by wife Beverly, 2 grandsons Colby (Jett) and Kary Todd Jr., 2 great granddaughters Lilyenne and Hadasa, daughter-in-law Mary Hocker, many nieces and nephews and brother Shortie (Mary) Hocker.
Lyle was a member of Longview Christian Chapel. Thank you, KC Hospice House, for your loving care. The family requests no flowers. Donations can be made to American Veterans Association or to KC Hospice House.
