Obituary
Marlene Margaret Story left this earth to be with her Lord & Savior on January 25, 2021 surrounded by her husband and daughters. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021, at the Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm.
Marlene was born in Trenton, Missouri on May 19, 1932. She grew up on a family farm, loved horses and played drums in her high school marching band. She met and married the love of her life while she was attending nursing school at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Her love for helping people led to a long, satisfying career as a registered nurse. She worked at the hospital until she went to work in the medical department at AT&T (formerly known as Western Electric). Following a short time living in Raytown, Marlene and Carroll made their home in Lee’s Summit with their two daughters, Linda and Cindy.
Mom loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the social sorority, Beta Sigma Phi in her earlier years and was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mom and Dad loved to play cards with close friends and following both of their retirements from AT&T, they enjoyed many trips around the United States with family and friends.
Marlene leaves behind her beloved husband of 65 years, Carroll L. Story, two daughters, Linda (Greg) Runnebaum, Boonville, MO and Cindy (Jeff) Stokes, Holden, MO, five grandchildren, Jessica (Will) Morris, Jodie (Jared) Anstine, Kimberli Stokes, Michael Runnebaum and Vincent Runnebaum and three great grandchildren, Baylie Jo Anstine, Tripp Morris and Jettson Anstine.
Flowers and memorials can be sent to Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW Third Street, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64063.
