Mary Jane WhitworthLIBERTY, MO – Mary Jane Whitworth, 92, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2023. She was born on June 27, 1931, in Greenfield, Missouri, the beloved daughter of Edgar and Bessie Jaquess.Mary was a loving and caring mother, wife, sister, and aunt. Her family was second only to God in her life, and she dedicated herself to their well-being. As a homemaker, Mary found joy in sewing and crafting, often creating beautiful items to give or donate to others. She found solace in reading her Bible and listening to gospel music. Mary also dedicated many years to volunteering at Lee’s Summit Hospital, providing support and comfort to those in need.Mary is survived by her daughter Christina Marie Campbell and her husband Larry; her son Michael Alan Whitworth and his wife Coleen; her daughter Toni Anne Ostrom and her husband Monnie; her sister-in-law Jean Jaquess; her grandson Andy Campbell and his wife Angela; her great-granddaughter Ashton Campbell; her great-grandson Andersen Campbell; her grandson Jeremy Troupe; her granddaughter Amy Couch and her husband Clayton; her great-granddaughter Magenia Parish; her great-grandson Elijah Parish; her great-grandson Clayton Garrett; her great-grandson Daltyn Schafer; her granddaughter Brooke Madson and her husband Jason; her great-granddaughter Harper Rose Madson; her great-great-granddaughter Lizzy Parish; her great-great-grandsons Theo Wozniak and Tommy Parish; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her father Edgar Jaquess; her mother Bessie Jaquess; her husband Harold A Whitworth; her brother Kenneth Jaquess and his wife Edna; her brother Robert Jaquess; her sister Dorothy Langston and her husband Ted; her sister Marge Anderson and her husband David; her brother Donald Jaquess; and her grandson Michael Campbell.Mary graduated from East High School in 1948. While she held several short-term positions early in her life, her true calling came when she became a devoted mother and homemaker. Her husband and children were the center of her world, and she dedicated herself to their care and happiness.Mary found spiritual nourishment and community at Maywood Baptist Church and Longview Baptist before joining First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit in February 1996.In her free time, Mary enjoyed sewing, crafting, and reading. She was also actively involved in volunteering, both at the hospital and at her church.A memorial service will be held on July 27 at First Baptist Church, located at 2 NE Douglas Street, Lee’s Summit, Mo, 64063. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the service from 11 a.m. to noon. A graveside service will immediately follow at Floral Hills East in Lee’s Summit.In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to support the First Baptist Church Mission work, Wounded Warriors, Susan B Komen, or the American Heart Association.Mary Jane Whitworth will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love and devotion to family and community will forever be cherished.
