Obituary
Matthew Alan Locke, a beloved husband, father, Happy, and friend, departed this earth on September 7, 2026. Born August 9, 1981, on a military base in Fort Gordon, Georgia, Matt grew up in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and resided there until his sudden passing.
Matt was a devoted father to Gage, Elaina (Jacob), CeCe, and Clayton. There was nothing he loved more than being their dad. Matt’s biggest smiles came from his beautiful granddaughters, Morrow and Margaret, who affectionately referred to him as Happy. Matt kept his wife of nearly fifteen years, Cora, on her toes. Matt loved nothing more than to be ornery, shrug, and say, talk to my dad, with a smirk when Cora reached her limit. Knowing they are together again helps bring a small solace to the family.
Matt was a proud Local 2 Sheet Metal worker. Matt worked for numerous companies in the Kansas City area before landing at Stadium Sheet Metal where he worked for more than a decade. Matt’s handy work is everywhere around Kansas City.
Matt was a simple man who adored his family. Matt loved a good prank and found no greater joy than being mischievous. Matt smoked delicious barbeque and grilled a steak perfectly. Matt could fix anything and was a perfectionist in his work. Matty gave the best hugs and his smell lingered long after he let go. We miss you more than words can tell.
Matt leaves behind Cora, Gage, Elaina (Jacob), CeCe, Clayton, Morrow, and Margaret. Matt is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Locke, and survived by his mother, Virginia, brother, Aaron, and sister, Rebecca.
A visitation will be held Monday, September 14th, from 9:00 – 11:00 at The Summit Church Chapel in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. A memorial service will immediately follow.

I’m so sorry to hear about Matthew. My heart is breaking for you. Sending heartfelt sympathy.
I’m sorry it’s been so long. My intention was to reach out to you both. Time happened and it never came to be. I’ll be at the funeral with sad regret and faith that God loves you and your family…He just needed one of his soldiers back. 🙏♥️💯 So now with His will, you will become a beacon of hope for your children. You will become a great mother of God’s gifts. Not because you wanted to, but because you have no other choice. My heart and soul is with you in this endeavor. You will find the light of the Lord. And He shall guide you. Be strong, not cause you want to be. Be strong, even when you feel weak. Be strong, and trust you will find His way. God is good. And so are you . Don’t ever forget that. ♥️🙏
I am so sorry to hear about Matt’s passing. I am sure that Tommy and Uncle Floyd were there to greet him and welcome him home.
Praying for comfort and much shalom for your family during this time of sorrow.
I knew matt since Jr high school he was very soft spoken like to tell jokes. But most important he was a great friend like a brother. Sorry for your loss.
Cora and family: my heart breaks for all of you. I am praying for all of you. May our loving God wrap his loving arms around all of you and help you find peace. I am so sorry for your loss.
