Melissa “Mel” Greer

Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mel on September 17, 2024. She passed away at the age of 46, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Mel was born in Nevada, Missouri, on November 16, 1977. She attended school in Nevada graduating with the class of 1996.

Mel had a flare for artisanship which she expressed through jewelry making, scrapbooking, painting, and crafting.  She enjoyed going to craft fairs with her mother, further fueling her creative spirit. Mel also loved to sing. Whether it was karaoke night with friends or lulling a baby to sleep, her voice was unique, beautiful, and powerful. She was an excellent cook who loved to prepare special dishes for all those she loved. Brian and Isaac‘s favorite meal was her chicken fettuccine Alfredo with cheesy garlic bread. Brian‘s coworkers always asked for Mel‘s “pink stuff” for any celebration. She never hesitated in making any special dish requests, especially chicken and bow-tie pasta for her ladybug .

Throughout her life, Mel was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and dear friend. She had an infectious laugh, and bubbly personality.  She lived life large and never met a stranger.

Mel loved her family. Above all, she loved her son, Isaac, aka, her froggy. He was her pride and joy and she basqued in all of his accomplishments, especially watching him play football. Mel had a reputation for being the “cool mom” among Isaac’s friends, who all call her Mama G, a role she cherished. She enjoyed cooking for them and loved watching them create special bonds and memories.

Mel is survived by her husband, Brian Greer, two sons, Andrew and Isaac Greer, parents, Steve and Joy Snyder, sister, Stephanie Snyder, niece, Lauren Adams (Gentry), nephews, Domonic Eaton, Antonio and Giovanni Giorgini,  great nephews, Koehn, Langston, and Zaymier, one great niece, Luna, father and mother-in-law, Norris and Kathy Greer, as well as as a host of close friends and extended family.

Mel will be deeply missed by all who have ever had the opportunity to know her.

Brian,

I am so sorry for your profound loss. My heart and prayers are with your family in this difficult time. If you need ANYTHING, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Sending you and your family much love through this difficult time.

Melissa,

I never had a sister, but I had two honorary big sisters growing up (Mel and Sissy). Mel never made fun of me, always was a positive role model, spent countless time playing with me or teaching me the ropes on the original Nintendo, and thought it was hilarious to terrorize me with a Crayola sleeping bag. She knew too much Jeopardy trivia, and caused an elementary age boy to keep tabs on what Marlena and John were doing daily at 1:00 PM. Thank you for being there when I needed you the most, and forcing me to learn to tie my shoes. I love you Mel and you will forever be with all of us in our memories.

Brian, I am so glad that I got to know Mel over the years. She was such a spark of life. I know she will greatly be missed by everyone she knew. Take care of yourself and we will all be here when you return.

I will always remember Mel as a vibrant ray of light and the funnest friend I’ve ever met. My heart and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time.

My husband and I had the blessing of knowing Mel since she was a wee little girl. Such a beauty!
Her beautiful big eyes and radiant smile touched one’s soul.
Roger Kopp, my husband introduced me to Steve and Joy Synder we he started his career as a Chemical Engineer with 3M plant Steve and Roger were best friends in all possible ways. Their friendship grew into more as family, Roger considered Steve his brother.
I have too have been blessed by the Synder family over the last 40 yrs. Our friendship with Steve and Joy, both their lovely daughters, Stephanie and Melessia children has grow into deep meaningful memories over the years.
Such deep love for the Synders and thier girls, son inlaws, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
I know that God had a reason for calling his beautiful young woman home so so early in her journey of life.
I know its hard to understand his reason.
I know its hard to say good bye to a loved one.
But, I also know that she was truly loved by all who were blessed to knowing her.
Mel is now in heaven with my Roger. I know she will be loved always here and there.
Until we meet again Mel.

Mel was always so full of energy and fun! I had the pleasure of working with her at Smith Hale when I started in 2013. We quickly became close friends and shared many enjoyable moments together. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and special, and her laughter was contagious. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. My sincere condolences to her family, especially Isaac, whom she spoke of so fondly. He was the light of her life.

I will always remember the day that I met Mel. She was a wonderful friend who we went on several adventures with. She will be forever missed. I’ll cherish my homemade jewelry forever.

My heart goes out to you all, so very sorry for your loss.
Many great memories of crafting and craft shows we all have together!!!! She loved her wonderful family, she loved to have fun!! She will be missed by so so many!!
