Obituary
Michael Wayne Skiles, age 62, a resident of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 12th, 2023 with family by his side at home. He was born the son of Emmett and Ella Skiles on December 8, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a 1978 graduate of Belton High School.
Mike was a blender with Sherwin-Williams for 36 years. He raised his granddaughter, Michelle Robinson, as a single father. He enjoyed watching her pitch many soft-ball games during Michelle’s high school and late teen years. Michael had many nieces, nephews and great nieces/nephews. Instead of visiting with the adults at family functions, he wrestled all his nephews. Mike was a self-described loner who would much rather play video games, watch the news or fiddle with things at home that needed fixing. However, if you got him talking about vitamins, health or politics, there was no stopping him! Mike met his wife, Reina, at a dance club and have been inseparable ever since. Soon after they were married in 2015, they became foster parents and adopted their foster children. Mike was an awesome cook; he could make fried chicken like no one else!
He is survived by his wife, Reina (Leeds) Skiles; 1 brother, Charles Skiles; 2 sisters, Karen Grantham (Mark), Linda Dawson, (Bill); his daughter, Michelle Robinson (Tony), twins, Aaron and Kathryn; great grandchildren, Anthony, Aevery and Alex. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmet and Ella Skiles.
A visitation will be held at Langsford Funeral Home from 10:00-11:00AM on Friday, November 17th, 2023, with funeral services following at 11:00AM. A lunch will be served at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Lee’s Summit, MO, following the funeral. Memorial contributions can be sent to Jackson County CASA, as they were an integral part of adopting the twins. You can find donation information here, Jackson County CASA (jacksoncountycasa-mo.org)
