Obituary

Nettie A. Dean (Patton) passed away on February 11, 2023. She was born on June 13, 1942 in Climax Springs, MO to her parents, George A. Patton and Anna L. Patton (Walters).  Her family moved to Raytown, MO in 1955, and she graduated from Raytown High School in 1960. That same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Fred W. Dean on June 16, 1960.  In September, 1961 they welcomed their first son, Allen W. Dean, followed by their next son, James B. Dean in May, 1963 and finally in June, 1968, a daughter, Staci L. Dean.

     She retired from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Animal Health Division in Lee’s Summit, MO in 1993, after 25 years as an executive secretary. They moved back to Climax Springs where she worked as a secretary for the superintendent of schools for several years.

     In 2006, they returned to Lee’s Summit in order to be close to their grandchildren, while also maintaining their lake home. She enjoyed Ancestry and after tracing her lineage and discovering that she was a direct descendant of a Revolutionary War veteran.  She was then accepted into the Daughters of the Revolution (DAR), a non-profit organization founded in 1890, whose mission is historical preservation and education. She enjoyed reading and traveling, and was a volunteer at Social Services in Lee’s Summit. She was very outgoing and never met a stranger.

    She is preceded in death by both of her parents, George and Anna Patton, brothers Albert Patton of Lee’s Summit MO, Earl Patton of Laurie, MO., sister’s Virginia Bailey (Patton) and Mary Gumm (Patton), both of Lee’s Summit MO.  

She is survived by her brother Loren Patton (Russ), of Lee’s Summit, MO, sister Tina Taylor (Patton) of Camdenton, MO, husband of almost 63 years, Fred Dean, of Lee’s Summit, her son Allen Dean and wife Sherry Dean (Keith) of Greenwood, MO, son James Dean, daughter Staci Dean and wife Amanda Wendel, grandchildren Benjamin Orion Dean Pierce, granddaughter Meghan Alexis Pierce Dean, all of Lee’s Summit MO, grandson Bryan Dean of N. Carolina, and granddaughter Shannon Dean of Ohio, four great-grandchildren, and so many nieces, nephews and friends, whom she loved dearly.

Fred and family, Marie and I are so saddened to hear of the passing of our Dear Friend Ann. Please be at peace knowing that she surely rests in the direct midst of God.

Ann was truly an exceptional lady, may she rest in peace. Fred may you find comfort that she is now pain free. Sending condolences.
