Obituary
Norma Vivian Chaney Norris, died peacefully in her sleep September 22, 2019, at the Adrian Manor Nursing Home where she resided for the past several years. Born Sep-tember 11, 1930, she had just celebrated her 89th birthday.
Daughter of Leo Cecil Chaney and Bessie Mae Thornton Chaney, Norma lived much of her young life in Pleasant Hill, Mo and she graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1948. She married William R. Norris, Jr. on June 6, 1949 and they remained happily wed for 67 years until his death Feb 1, 2017.
Norma had a lifelong love of singing and music. She was an enthusiastic leader and member of her church choir for many years and also enjoyed participating in the Sweet Adeline’s organization.
In addition to her parents and husband Bill, Norma was predeceased by her brother, David Chaney and sisters Lorene Lindsay and Ruth Wright.
She is survived by her four children, daughters Sharon Hunter of Adrian, Mo, Susan McMillen of Holden, Mo, Sara Wright of Seattle, Wa and son Martin Norris of Holden, Mo. She will also be missed by eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, Mo on Saturday, October 19, 2019, from 10 – 11am.

Aunt Norma,
I cherish the memories of the time we had together. Driving around the countryside seeing family landmarks, going to Sweet Adeline practice, getting peach ice cream cones as big as our heads, just helping out in the kitchen. Time with you was always special. Thank you so much for the memories.
