PEGGY JO McCOMBS
LEE’S SUMMIT – Peggy Jo McCombs, age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024. She was born on May 30, 1947 in Taylorville, Illinois to Charles (Charlie) and Vivian Brown.
She graduated from Rushville High School in 1965. She married Jim McCombs, long time sweetheart, on April 10, 2009. She worked as a coding specialist at Truman Medical Center and was a manager of the Lakewood Medical Clinic before retiring. Peggy truly lived life to the fullest; encouraging, loving and supporting her children, grandchildren, and other loved ones.
She enjoyed growing flowers, feeding cardinals and hummingbirds, playing cards and working jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed thrifting and was always on the hunt for her $3.00 bargains of which she found many. Christmas was Peggy’s favorite holiday in which she made cookies and candies for friends and family. Peggy had an uncanny ability to make friends with anyone and was a beloved friend to many with whom she worked and in her neighborhood in Lee’s Summit.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Jim McCombs, beloved schnauzer Maggie, her children Michelle Coyner, Amy McCombs and Aaron McCombs, grandchildren Austin Coyner, Cooper Veasman, and Blake Coyner (Brooke), sister, Susan Chaney (Andy), brother, Kevin Brown (Tricia) along with numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Those who wish to remember Peggy in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Veteran’s Organization or a local animal rescue organization of their choice.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Peggy when same came down to visit her sister Ms. Susan, it was our first meeting and it was so natural as though I had already known her. May your family be comforted by the many memories she has left behind. God’s love be with you all.

My condolences to my wonderful coworker Aaron and family. God bless you.
Peggy was a one of a kind. She had a humor that was unmatched. She was truly a special lady, and I am a better person for knowing her.
We met Peggy through her sister Susan whom we love very dearly. And we, just as quickly, fell in love with Peggy. She was full of life and laughter. She will be so missed but we know we will see her again. Love you Peggy!
I had the pleasure of meeting Peggy when I worked at TMC Lakewood Clinic and we became good friends. She loved her family, her work friends, the patients at the clinic and all the joys of life. We shared many stories and good times that I will remember fondly. My thoughts are with her family and I know she will be watching over you as you experience your life stories.
All of us at Grace Church in Laverne, Tennessee, hold this dear family in our prayers.
From the bottom of our hearts we send our condolences in the loss of Susan’s dear sister, Peggy. We pray that day by day, God will provide deep solace, comfort and grace to all of the surviving family.

Peggy took me under her wing and showed me the ropes and always looked out for me when I joined the staff at Westlake Medical Center in Laurie Mo in 1996. She alway kept in touch after retiring. Her Christmas card each year was always the first one I received for the season.
May Peace be with you.
