Obituary

Peggy Marie West, 75 of Raytown, Mo, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born on June 9th, to the late Shirley Ann Skeens and William Howard Skeens. Peggy grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Raytown High School in 1968.

Peggy was one of four siblings and is preceded in death by her brother Robert Skeens. She is survived by her brothers Mike Skeens (Lake Winnebago, MO), and Barry Skeens (St. Louis, MO).

A devoted mother, Peggy was the heart of a large and loving family. She is survived by her six children: Paula Hoaglan, (Tim) of Kansas City MO; Edward Wade of Harrisonville, MO; Jennifer Faulkenberry (Mark) of Jacksonville, FL; Terry Wade (Stephanie) of Harrisonville, MO; Brooke Parker (Shawn) of Raytown, MO; and Brenda West (Jamie) of Independence, MO. She was a proud grandmother of 12 and a great-grandmother of 13, a legacy she cherished deeply.

Family was everything to Peggy.  She never met a stranger and had a gift of turning any conversation into a moment of warmth and laughter. Her home was a gathering place filled with stories, love and joy, especially during her favorite time of year – Halloween. Peggy was the highlight of the family’s annual Halloween party, always ready with a spooky tale to delight young and old alike.

Peggy began her working life in housekeeping at several Downtown, Kansas City hotels, known for her diligence and attention to detail. She later launched her own successful cleaning business serving both commercial and residential clients. There wasn’t a mess Peggy couldn’t tackle. Later in her career, she became a valued supervisor on the night shift at USA800, where she built strong friendships and mentored many with her trademark mix of kindness and grit.

Peggy’s memory will live on through the stories she told, the laughter she inspired, and the love she poured into every corner of her life.

Peggy will be missed more than words can express.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Raytown REAP at https://raytownreap.org/donate/, or a charity of your choice in honor of Peggy West.

A visitation will be held Monday, November 10, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Peggy, your jovial character was your calling card. You endeared yourself to all who met you and heard that infectious laugh. While your path in life was a bit rocky, you paved it with gold raising your family and making friends. I have and will miss you tremendously my friend. God speed his healing hand to all your family and friends who will hold you in their hearts in your absence. The world is a better place because you were in it.

We are sorry for the family’s loss of a wonderful, fun loving person. Peggy always seemed to have a smile on her face and enjoyed life. She loved her family with her whole heart. She will be dearly missed.

With great love and respect to the family: Peggy will be missed greatly; the joy, laughter and genuine kind loving heart she exhibited will always be remembered. The funny stories she told and good hearted teasing made any time with Peggy an absolute joy. A truly remarkable individual who never missed a chance to brag about her family. Peggy loved with all her heart each and everyone of her children and grandchildren. Peggy always treated people as though she knew them all her life. Peggy was more than a friend she was a treasure. Today we will miss her but one day we’ll meet again with laughter and love for eternity. Love Judie and Joe Holt
