Obituary

Rhea Lois Gile, 102 years young of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away peacefully March 5, 2026 with her family by her side.

She was born December 1, 1923, to her parents Willard and Julia Scherff in Kansas City, Kansas. As a young girl she had a great love for horses. She grew up riding in the American Royal in Kansas City.

She graduated from Wyandotte High School which soon after graduation married, Floyd “Mooney” Gile.

She drove a school bus for many years in Raytown, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a “2nd” mom to many of her four children’s friends. These friends were always stopping by, which she loved. She never met a stranger. She was blessed to have so many family members and friends in her life.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Floyd Gile, her sons Rickey and Reggie.

She is survived by her son Gary (Susie) of Holden, Missouri; daughter Julianne Gibbs of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; grandchildren Shane Gibbs, Joseph Gile, Rickey Gile and Brian Gile; great-grandchildren Taylor Lucas (Logan), Jackson Gibbs, Charley Gibbs and Samantha (Eric) Serrano. She was so privileged to be a great-great-grandmother to Beckett Lucas, Halstyn Lucas and Emilia Serrano. She loved her family so much.

To honor our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, we will be hosting a Celebration of Life on April 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Gamber Community Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

No service to be scheduled. She will be put to rest at Mt. Moriah at a later date next to her husband.
