Obituary

Russell “Rusty” Jean Warren, age 94 of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away March 28, 2023. Russell was born on April 11, 1928 in Inland, NE to Hie E. and Linnie (Williamson) Warren. Rusty graduated from Papillion High School in Papillion, NE. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE. He married Helen Marie Rumelhart on December 12, 1948, in Omaha, NE and raised 4 daughters. He worked as a transportation foreman for Yellow Freight for 40 years before retiring in 1990. During his career with Yellow Freight worked in Omaha, NE, Des Moines, IA and settled in Raytown, MO. After the death of his wife Helen, Rusty married Linda Qualls in October, 2010.

Rusty was a lifelong Methodist. He was a member of the Raytown Masonic Lodge and Ararat Shrine.

He was a lifelong Nebraska Cornhusker fan, Kansas City Chief season ticket holder for many years and loved watching the Kansas City Royals. He was a long-time member of Pioneer Gun Club and Lake Lotawana Sportsman Club. He competed in many shooting competitions and received a national award in pistol shooting.

Rusty is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry, wife Helen and 2nd wife Linda.

Rusty is survived by his daughters: Julia Tapko (Joe), Jean Rinehart (Dan), Jackie Lasswell (Rob) and Jill Silva (Richard); 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 step children.

Visitation will be 9:00 am Friday March 31, 2023 at Lansford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, MO.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday. March 31, 2023, at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, MO. Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery, 6901 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO.

Memorials may be given to: One Community Hospice, Independence, MO and Shriners Children’s Hospital at donate.lovetotherecue.org.
