Obituary

Ruth Elnor Carnall Mallard, 80, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, April 14, 2018 in Kansas City, MO. Ruth was born on September 21, 1937 in Wright County, MO to John and Hattie Carnall. Ruth married Peery Lindsey and eventually moved to Kansas City and then Belton, MO and together they were blessed with three girls, Diana, Karen, and Janelle. Ruth worked for and retired from Bendix Corporation, now Honeywell, in Kansas City, MO. Ruth and Peery divorced and she later married Lawrence Mallard. They enjoyed similar activities such as country and gospel music and travel, including yearly trips to Hawaii during the winter months.

Ruth was a member of the Belton Christian Church Disciples of Christ. After moving to Lee’s Summit, she transferred her membership to the Lee’s Summit Christian Church Disciples of Christ where she is a current member. Ruth loved to help others, she was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. She also enjoyed researching her genealogy and wrote a book about her family. In recent years, she enjoyed spending time with her family, working crossword puzzles, and playing Bingo and Brain Fitness with her friends.

Ruth is survived by her three girls, Diana (Jon) Carlton, Belton, MO, Karen (Russ) Percival, Raymore, MO, and Janelle (Tom) Pugh, Lee’s Summit, MO; eight grandchildren, Stefanie Gentes, Brian Bailey, Angela Steinbrugge (Donny), Jerry Percival (Alicia), Jason Forester, Lindsey Martinez (Manny), Madison Pugh, and Riley Pugh; thirteen great-grandchildren, Brandon Gentes, Ben Gentes, Kiersten Steinbrugge, Cody Steinbrugge, Megan Gentes, Tristin Bailey, Luke Steinbrugge, Austin Gentes, Aiden Martinez, Keagan Percival, Karson Percival, Malakye Martinez, and Mason Martinez; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ruth was preceded in death by her infant brother, John Harrison Carnall; parents, John and Hattie Carnall; great-grandson, Alex Gentes; husband, Larry Mallard; and brother, Harry Carnall.

Services will be officiated by Dr. Matthew Silvers at the Lee’s Summit Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 800 NE Tudor Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64086, on Wednesday, April 18, visitation 2-3pm, and service at 3pm.
