Obituary

Ruthie Jean (Benson) Brown, 89, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Centerpoint Hospital In Independence, Missouri. A visitation is scheduled from 5:00 – 6:00 PM on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM. Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Sni-Mills Holiness Cemetery in Lone Jack, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to a disabled veterans organization of the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Brown was born on August 9, 1930 in Sterling, Colorado. She graduated in 1948 from Lone Jack High School. Ruthie met her future husband, Forest Brown, in grade school, dated through high school, and were united in marriage on August 11, 1949. She was a loving housewife, loved watching sunsets in the evening, sun rises in the mornings, clouds, blue skies, flowers, lots of flower beds, her farm “Ho Hum Valley”, Sunday drives in the country, quiet simple times, watching deer, turkey, and all the wildlife, working on cross stitching, and all her beautiful quilts she made.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her husband, Forest E. Brown in 2013; parents, Woodrow P. and Mabelle E. (Huff) Benson; and her brother, James “Sonny” Benson of California in 1989.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Vaughan of Blue Springs, MO; brothers, Denton Benson and wife Darlene of Holden, MO, Wayne Benson and wife Shirley of Holden, MO, and Perry Benson of Indianapolis, IN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
