Mrs. Sandra Marie Johnston was born in Kansas City, Missouri on February 20, 1942. She was a lifelong resident of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1959.
She was a gardener with a green thumb, a mom and grandma to everyone, and simply the foundation of our family! She loved to mow, take care of her flowers, grow vegetables and enjoy the sunshine. Her cat “Pumpkin” was always on her lap and right by her side. She told the best stories of the past, and remembered every detail. Her stories will always live on in the family she loved so much.
She was the head cheerleader in high school along with her husband Buck Johnston who was the quarterback on the football team, they were married in August, 1961. In 2002 she unexpectedly lost her beloved husband and high school sweetheart. After almost 20 years, they are together again free of pain and sickness in the arms of Jesus.
In the years that followed she was able to find a special person, Jack Mallory, she had some wonderful years enjoying travel, hiking and his precious company.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck Johnston, her parents, Jim & Edna Gaither, her In-laws, Marshall & June Johnston, and her brother In-laws, David Johnston & Mike Johnston.
Survivors include her special person Jack Mallory, her sister Linda Bennett & spouse Bob Bennett, her children, Kirk Johnston & spouse Allen Murray, Scott Johnston & spouse Sheila Johnston, Lisa Riggs & spouse Trent Riggs, and Lori Burbee & spouse David Burbee. Grandchildren, Kirshten, Cody, Olivia, Dawson, Gage, Sydney, Ashlyn, Savanna, Miranda, Jeremy and Shawna.
Great Grandchildren, Piper, Payton, Charlotte, Lyric, Ryder, Luna, Judah, Penelope, and a miracle baby on the way.
