Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott Chase, a beloved husband, father, Pop, and friend.  Scott died unexpectedly from a medical emergency at the age of 64.

Scott was born April 30,1961 in Minneapolis, MN, to Gerald “Jerry” and Marilynn Chase. Scott graduated from Burnsville High School, class of 1979. Following graduation, he went on to play soccer at the University of Missouri St. Louis where he was an All-American. Scott met his beloved wife Mary on Labor Day weekend in 1980.  They were married shortly after on a cold winter’s day on December 3, 1982.

Scott’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted and loving father to Rachael and Kayla, and a doting Pop to Carter, Brock, Audriana, and Penelope. He loved cheering on his grandkids attending their games, Ski Show and activities. Pop was a master storyteller, captivating his grandchildren with tales of his own childhood adventures and inspiring them to pursue their dreams.

Scott was a man of rare charisma—someone who lit up every room he entered and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Known for his infectious energy and warm smile, he lived life with purpose, generosity, and a deep love for family, friends, and the great outdoors.

An avid sportsman, Scott had a lifelong passion for hockey, as a player, fan, and coach.  He also spent many years playing soccer, running marathons (in his thirties), playing golf, and water skiing. As a resident of Lake Lotawana for nearly 18 years, Scott enjoyed his time on the lake with friends and family. Whether it was hanging out at the “tie up”, fishing off his dock, or pulling his grandkids behind his ski boat; he loved the time he spent on the lake.

He was also a gifted handyman, the kind of person who could fix or build just about anything. Scott was always there to lend a helping hand and enjoyed the winter months when he could put his snow blower to use helping friends and family clear their driveways.  More than anything, Scott will be remembered for the way he made people feel—welcomed, supported, and truly seen. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and a spirit that inspired those around him to live life to the fullest.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Ted and Marguerite Chase and Larry and Corrine Eckes. He is survived by his wife Mary and daughters Rachael (David), and Kayla (Jonny) as well as his grandchildren Carter, Brock, Audriana, and Penelope. Scott also leaves behind his parents Gerald and Marilynn, as well as his siblings Mark (Mary), Tim (Judy), Greg (Kathy), Dianne (Kurt) and their families who will miss him dearly and carry his memory forward.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, at 2:00pm at Lake Shore Plaza Event Space, 9613 S Lake Shore Dr. Lake Lotawana, MO 64086.
