Obituary

Steven “Steve” Hon Oberweather, born September 18, 1954 of Lee’s Summit, MO passed peacefully with Robin by his side the morning of September 10, 2025.

Steve loved simple, but he loved big. He was a gifted athlete, excelling in both football and baseball- signing with the Houston Astros from High School and later playing football, both offense, defense, and kicker at the University of Central Missouri.

Steve worked for Marion Pharmaceutical for many years, where he built lasting friendships.

He found joy in the outdoors whether it be fishing, hunting, camping or simply sitting on his screened-in porch with a cup of Folgers coffee.

Steve was an incredible father to his three kids and “Pops” to his grandchildren.

Survived by his partner, Robin and children Jesse (Kylie, Beckett, and Norah), Kyle (Evie and Ava), Casse (Jack, Willow, and Bodey), Step-children Kacie (Ben, Jayla and Kingston) and Brett (Bailey). He is also survived by his brother, Harold (Sue), and 2 nieces (Ginger Holden and Cinnamon Christian), and 1 nephew (Matt Oberweather).

Steve lived life with a full heart. His family was his joy, and that joy will live on in each of them. Steve’s memory will be forever cherished, and Casse will continue catching the biggest fish for him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 12:00pm – 3:00pm at Summit Park – Shelter 2 at 451 NW Blue Pkwy, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063.

I have fond and cherished memories of Steve (Obie). We met and worked on the same line at Marion Labs.
He was a great person to hang out with we enjoyed our family trips together.
He had the best smile and laugh.
He will be truly missed.

Worked with Steve at Marion Labs. Great guy and fun to be around. He was a friend you enjoyed hanging out with and will be truly missed. I was privileged to have called him a friend.

I always enjoyed talking with Steve. Such a nice guy. And one of the best athletes I have ever known. I worked with his dad, Lee, at Pfizer and worked at Marion Labs at the same time he did. Praying for his family and friends as we mourn his passing.

Steve was a good friend-his smiles, his laugh, his sense of humor was contagious. We worked together for many years at Marion. We played ALOT of softball together – we were all so close and just enjoyed hanging out, telling stories and making memories. We have lost so many great friends from Marion and Steve was truly an amazing man and friend to so many.

I worked with Steve (Obie) at Marion Labs.
He was a fun loving, good guy. We had a lot of fun times with everyone on the line.
I am so very sorry to hear the news that he passed away. Sending prayers for his family🙏

I had the pleasure to work with and have Obie as a friend for over 45 years. He seemed to always have a smile on his face and enjoyed life. As others have mentioned he was quite an athlete and sportsman and loved the outdoors and especially fishing. I can remember a dozen time standing beside him in the waters of Bennett Springs, him pulling in trout one after another while I didn’t catch a darn thing. When I would ask him his secret, he would just give me that grin and just keep pulling them in! Thank you for your friendship, Obie and I hope the fishing is good up there! You will be missed!
