Obituary

Thelma (Pannell) Avise, 93, of Belton, MO, passed away on July 20, 2021 at Carnegie Village Rehabilitation and Health Care. Thelma was born in Saint Louis, MO, though later attended and graduated from Wyandotte Highschool. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, Lake Lotawana Community Club, and the Methodist Church. She retired from Dillard’s department store. Thelma derived her greatest pleasure in life from her children, and all of her extended family. She lived many years at Lake Lotawana, raising her family, and was blessed with many lifelong friends at the lake. She enjoyed activities at the Missouri Yacht Club, Community Club, and Bridge Club. She loved attending dinner theater performances with friends and family and was a avid bowler for many years. Thelma’s beautiful caring way will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, William Arthur and Thelma Pannell; Husband, Donald C. Avise; infant daughter, Sheryl Lynn Avise; and daughter, Debra Sue Nielson.

Survivors include a son, Don Avise (Judy); of Lee’s Summit, MO; son, Jim Avise of Mesa, AZ; son, Bill Avise (Kelly) of Carthage, MO; daughter, Lisa Avise of Raymore, MO; 12 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on August 7, 2021, from 9am – 10am at Langsford Funeral Home, followed by a service at 10 am. Burial will be held at Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery.
