Obituary
THOMAS FRANK BOEHM, PLEASANT HILL MO
Thomas F. Boehm, 76, died unexpectedly on August 26, 2024, at a Cass County hospital. He was born October 28, 1947, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Paul Boehm and Elizabeth (Mitts) Boehm.
Tom graduated from Rockhurst University and held a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri. He retired in 2009 after a long career as a Staff Aerospace Engineer at Bendix (then Allied Signal, then Honeywell). Tom was responsible for designing and testing non-nuclear components for nuclear warheads. His colleagues said that he knew centrifuges better than anyone else. Tom was indeed a Rocket Scientist.
Yet his proudest accomplishment was marrying the love of his life, (Frances) Lynn (Burnell) Boehm in 1967, in Kansas City. They enjoyed nearly 45 wonderful years of marriage before her sudden death in 2012. After Lynn’s passing, Tom dedicated his time and resources to renovating and building homes with his family.
Tom is predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife, Lynn. He leaves behind his daughter Michelle Boehm and her husband Rob (Morales) of Kansas City, MO; his son Jeffrey Thomas Boehm, and his wife, Kerry (Merrick), of Lone Jack, MO; his grandson, Weston Thomas Boehm and his wife, Samantha (Gustin), of Overland Park, KS; his granddaughter, Anna Clare Boehm, of Lone Jack, MO; his brother, Dennis Boehm (TX); his sister Nancy and her husband Russ (MO); and many nieces and nephews. Tom’s family looks forward to the birth of his first great-grandson to Samantha and Weston; the little boy is due on September 3 and will be named in Tom’s honor.
A service of remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 30, at Langsford Funeral Home at 115 SW 3rd St., Lee’s Summit, MO. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at 1501 Highway 7, Pleasant Hill, MO. Those who wish to remember Tom in a special way should head to their local hole in the wall and treat themselves to a burger (plain, nothing on it!) and tater tots instead of fries.
