In Memory of

Thomas Willis Brown

Obituary

Thomas Willis Brown went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2024.

Tom was born on November 20, 1935, in Chicago, IL.  The fourth of five children, his family eventually made their way to the Kansas City where his father worked for the railroad. Tom graduated from Southeast High School in 1954 along with his wife of 45 years, Lois M. (Barker) Brown, who preceded him in glory on February 7, 2008. Tom enlisted in the Navy for four years, and after returning home, he became the first in his family to attend college, graduating from William Jewell in 1966. Tom worked for the Santa Fe railroad for over 40 years and lived in Raytown, Missouri, for much of his married life where he raised his two children.  Before retiring, he bought a house with some acreage in Greenwood. He was a lover of nature and of animals, and his joy in recent years was watching bluebirds and orioles visit the birdbath and feeders outside his window.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife Lois, his father and mother, his four siblings and their spouses save one, his eldest brother’s wife, Peggy.

He leaves behind his two children, Elaine (Billy) and Tom (Carla), four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

Because of his heart for others that need love the most, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to City Union Mission and Wayside Waifs.

Elaine and family,

I’m very sorry for your loss and will be keeping you in my prayers! God bless you all with the Lord’s peaceful presence.

Dear Elaine and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I’ve experienced loss of my love ones and
It’s never easy yet The Lord is holding you all in this.

Dear Elaine and Tommy,
Your dad, and mom, were my other parents growing up. I love and respect them so much. Our neighborhood was the BEST!
The time I spent talking with Tom, holding his hands, last year was a huge blessing. I will always treasure his memory… both as a child and as a grandma, myself.
My love and prayers are with you both and your family’s.
I am sure the Angels in Heaven have reunited dear Lois and Tom.
Until we are all together again!
Love Always, Mindy ⚘️🙏❤️

So sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers for your family. Elaine and Tom, hugs and love.
