Obituary

Tyler Pirtle, an energetic and spirited young man known for his adventurous spirit and kindness, passed away October 23, 2024 at the age of 18. Born on July 14, 2006, in Blue Springs, Missouri, Tyler was the beloved son of Jennifer Titus Pirtle and Travis Pirtle, and cherished step-son of Cole Million and Ashley Hoover.

From a young age, Tyler displayed an insatiable love for exploration and play, often found atop the highest trees or structures in the area. He also loved animals, domestic and wild, and was the caring owner of many pets.

From age three until almost age twelve Tyler lived in Columbia, Missouri and in 2018 moved to Lee’s Summit, Missouri. During his academic career Tyler earned the admiration of his teachers for both his academic performance and his character. He attended Ridgeway Elementary, Prairie View Elementary, Oakland Middle School, Pleasant Lee Middle School, and recently graduated from Lee’s Summit High School with honors and an impressive 3.8 GPA his Senior year. He was enrolled in the Cyber Security program through Metropolitan Community College.

Tyler was deeply committed to scouting, beginning his journey as a Tiger with Pack 2 in Columbia in 2012. His dedication and leadership were evident as he advanced through the ranks, crossing over into Troop 706 and later transferring to Troop 255. Tyler proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout on May 19, 2022, with a notable Eagle Project that involved restoring benches and bleachers for the Blue Springs Baseball Association. His achievements in scouting were further recognized when he was awarded the title of Warrior in the honorary Tribe of Mic-O-Say leadership program in 2019, and later elevated to Firebuilder in 2020. In 2023, Tyler embraced his love for the ocean and fulfilled a nearly lifelong dream by participating in the high adventure SeaBase program, where he spent seven days scuba diving.

A versatile athlete, Tyler showcased his talents in soccer, baseball, football, and street basketball. He particularly excelled in baseball, where his prowess as a pitcher, first baseman, and center fielder made him a formidable competitor. His signature fastball and changeup were known to leave batters speechless.

Tyler is preceded in death by his grandfather, Duane Titus, and great-grandmother, Norma Best. He leaves behind a loving family, including his parents, Jennifer Titus Pirtle and Travis Pirtle; step-parents, Cole Million and Ashley Hoover; brother, Mason Pirtle; and sister, Isabel Titus. He is also survived by his grandparents, Becky and Jeff Hubbard, Marsha and Gary Pirtle, and Carol Hoover; aunts and uncles, Bryan Martin, Eric and Menda Titus, Lance Pirtle, and Shaun and Brooks O’Neill; and cousins, Katelyn, James, Cecilia, Thomas, Michael, Michaela, and Erin.

In honor of Tyler’s memory, the family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to H Roe Bartle Scout Scholarship Fund, Great Rivers Council Friends of Scouting, Blue Springs Baseball Association, or the ASPCA.

Services to celebrate Tyler’s life will be held on Friday November 1, 2024 at Langsford Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to join in remembrance of a remarkable young man who brought joy and inspiration to all who knew him. Following the services at Langsford a Celebration of Life will be held at 2409 SW M291 Hwy in Lee’s Summit with a tailgating theme so please feel free to change into your favorite hoodie, Chiefs or Royals shirt.
