Vella J. Fugate,85, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away on December 9, 2019. Visitation will be Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 1-2pm at Langsford Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2pm and burial immediately after at Lee’s Summit Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Gideon’s International

Vella was born July 27, 1934 in Brown County, Kansas. She met and later married Claude Fugate in 1950. She worked as a switchboard operator at Southwestern Bell and then when she had children, stayed home to care for them. Vella served God for many years as a Sunday school teacher and taught week day church school at Armourdale Baptist Church. She never missed an opportunity to share her faith in Jesus with others. Vella loved going on vacations especially with her daughter to Branson, MO.

Vella is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Claude; three sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include her daughter, Diana and her husband Jack Woltje of Kansas City, KS; 2 sons, Glenn Fugate of Olathe, KS, and Neal and his wife, Teresa Fugate of Tonganoxie, KS; sister, Lila Adams of Blue Springs, MO; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
