Obituary
Virginia “Lou” Hendricks passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Princeton Senior Living, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family.
Lou Hendricks was born May 24, 1939, in Henderson, Kentucky, to Kenneth Hayes and Elizabeth (Humphrey) Hayes, and the family relocated to Kansas City’s Northland. After graduating High School from North Kansas City, Lou met and later married the love of her life, Jim Hendricks on August 17, 1963. Lou and Jim settled in Biloxi, Mississippi, during Jim’s time in the Service (Air Force). After completing his time in the Service, they relocated to Lee’s Summit, Missouri, where they raised their two children, Angie Donaldson (Jeff) and Glen. The family spent many summer vacations at Table Rock Lake where Lou enjoyed floating, boating, water skiing and performing her signature flips off the dock. Lou and Jim purchased their summer home on Table Rock Lake in 1985 where they eventually built their retirement home in 2005.
Lou worked and retired from Metro Auto Auction where she took great pride in Dealer Registration. She worked with and knew almost every car dealer in the city, helping them reserve lane numbers and registering their vehicles in the auction sale. She genuinely loved her job and the individuals she worked with.
In retirement Lou and Jim spent many years as members of the Two Cylinder Club of Kansas City, traveling and showcasing their John Deere Tractor. After the passing of her beloved Husband, Lou continued living at her retirement home on Table Rock Lake, where she loved entertaining family, before moving back to Lee’s Summit, Missouri at The Princeton Retirement Senior Living. Lou always made time for family and friends, especially her grandchildren, Abbie Donaldson and CJ Donaldson. She was incredibly proud of them and loved the dearly.
Lou was proceeded in death by her parents Kenneth and Elizabeth, husband Jim as well as her brothers Jerry Hayes and Les Hayes, referred to as Butch by many.
She is survived by her 2 children, 2 grandchildren; brother Tennis Hayes; Sister-in-Laws Della Hayes, Colette Hayes, and a large extended family.
Lou’s celebration of life will be held at the Langsford Funeral Home 115 SW 3rd St., Lee’s Summit, MO 64063 on Friday, July 26, 2024. Visitation will be at 10:00 – 12:00 p.m. Following, Lou’s ashes will be laid to rest at Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery.

Angie, Jeff, Abbie and CJ; I am so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. She is in a better place with your dad and I understand the comfort you’ll get from that. No matter if we expect this or not, it’s still hard and painful. I’ll keep you in my prayers and thoughts and I send all my love for you all.
Lou was a great person and a big help to me every week at the auto auction. May she rest in peace knowing she was loved by many.
Respectable,
Mike Williams
Thinking of you at this time. It is very hard to lose someone you love especially your parents and grandparents. God be with you
Angie, I’m so sorry for your loss. I knew I hadn’t seen your mom for a few days, but I had no idea she had passed. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
