Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Michael Loehr, 72, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri who passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, after over a decade long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Bill was the eldest of three children and a devoted son to the late James and Helen Loehr. He graduated from Bishop Hogan High School in 1971 and married the love of his life, Betty Harper, in 1973. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Bill was a machinist by trade, he went on to have a successful career as owner and operator of J&W Grinding Inc. for over 40 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1994 from William Jewell College. Bill enjoyed fly fishing, woodworking, and college sports. He had a big heart for animals.

Bill was a member of the Missouri Freemason Masonic Lodge #263 in Lee’s Summit since 2009 and served as Worshipful Master in 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty; their children, Michael Loehr (Dawn), Rachael Rutherford (Chris) (Sven) and Patricia Loehr (Dennis); their grandchildren, Hannah, Gretchen, Lorelei, James and Jaxon. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in his honor.

Bill’s warmth, wisdom, and humor will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew him.
