In Memory of

Wilma E. Godfrey

October 29, 1951 - August 15, 2021

Obituary

Wilma Godfrey, age 69, went home to Jesus on August 15th, 2021. Wilma was born to Ellsworth and Bertha Thomas on October 29th, 1951 in Jackson County, Missouri.
Wilma went on to birth three beautiful daughters, who have given her seven grandchildren. The last seven and half years Wilma was able to watch her great grandchildren laugh and play and cherish every minute of them.
Wilma is survived by her husband Charles Godfrey; her siblings, Betty Beals, Joseph Thomas, Dorothy Sprague, Sharon Graham, John Thomas, William Thomas, and Jackie Holland; her children; Madeline & spouse Timothy Thurman, Cynthia & spouse Bob Fannin, Mindy Jamaleddin; her step-son; Chuckee Godfrey; grandchildren; Kandis & spouse Gary Bindley, Santana & spouse Rafael Rendon, Bill & spouse Brittany Fannin, Samantha Thurman, Victoria Jamaleddin, Jillian Jamaleddin, Olivia Jamaleddin, and Savannah Godfrey; and ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Wilma was welcomed in heaven by her parents Ellsworth & Bertha Thomas; her brother Dennis Thomas; her sister Barbara Hartsell; and her beloved dog Lulu. Wilma Godfrey was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. To put into words what this woman means to us all would be an impossible task. She embodied all the best qualities you could ask for. Wilma would give you the shirt off her back, the last dollar she had, or her own seat no matter your age. Wilma loved her friends and family with every last piece of her heart. And she took a piece of our hearts with her when she passed.
When you remember Wilma, I hope you hear her contagious laugh, see her beautiful smile, and feel her warm touch. She had so much faith in God, it gives us great comfort to know she was in his arms moments after she left this world. The world became a little dimmer when her soul left, but her memory will stay here forever.
Family and friends are invited to attend her services on Wednesday, August 18, at Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW 3rd St, Lee’s Summit, MO, 64063. Visitation will begin at 11am, funeral following at 12pm. We will then drive to Floral Hills Cemetery for her burial.
Wilma’s sister Jackie Holland would like to extend an invite to family and friends to gather at her home after the burial for a gathering to remember Wilma. 1215 Ne Prairie Lane, Lee’s Summit, MO, 64063. Masks would be appreciated.
