In Memory of

Andrew “Andy” J. Clapp

July 20, 1972 - December 27, 2023

Obituary

Andrew “Andy” John Clapp, 51, of Independence, MO went home to be with his Savior on December 27, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Rachel Clapp, and 5 children, Alyssa, Nathan, Joshua, Julia, and Caleb. Visitation will be held on January 4, 2024, at the Langsford Funeral Home (115 SW 3rd St, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the family’s church, Fellowship Church of Greenwood (1601 W Main St, Greenwood, MO 64034), on January 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Andy was born on July 20, 1972, in Appleton, WI. He attended Northland Baptist Bible College from 1991 – 1996. He graduated with a degree in Bible/Missions. Northland College was where Andy met his wife, Rachel. They were married on May 16, 1998, and eventually made their home in Independence, MO. They were blessed with 5 children. Being a father and husband was one of the great joys of Andy’s life. Andy went on to earn a Master’s of Divinity degree from Heart of America Seminary. He was always very involved in his church and worked in various ministries, as well as serving as a deacon. Outside his family and the Lord, Andy’s passions were music and sports. He loved watching his daughters play flute and violin. And he loved listening to music – especially Phil Wickham. As a life-long Michigan fan and a KC Chiefs fan, Andy loved watching games and cheering on teams (except when the game was too stressful to watch). He also loved watching his kids play various sports throughout their lives including basketball, volleyball, baseball and football. Andy also loved the family dog, Mocha, and looked forward to Christmas, winter snow, peppermint hot chocolate, and his favorite dish lasagna. Andy was always smiling and up for a good laugh. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Above everything, Andy loved the Lord Jesus and trusted in Him as his personal Savior. He shared this love with his family and friends and strived to live out a godly example for them all. His favorite Bible story was from the book of Nehemiah, which is the story of how one man can have significant impact on a nation. God saw Nehemiah’s work and blessed him. God can use anyone to do great things. Andy was on earth for a short time but was influential in the lives of those who knew him – all through God’s help and blessing. Andy’s memory will continue to be honored in his wife, Rachel; children, Alyssa, Nathan, Joshua, Julia and Caleb; parents, John and Carol Clapp; brother, Danny (Thea) and family; parent-in-laws, John and Theresa Wiseman; brother-in-law, Sean (Danna) Wiseman and family; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and family members, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Andy’s memory to the Fellowship Church Missions ministry. https://fcfamily.org/missionsYou can also view the funeral at the following link:https://fcfamily.online.church

I am so sorry for your loss. Andy was a spectacular person, friend and co-worker. Andy and I started working together around the same time and had a lot of laughs. Andy was loved by so many people at work. He is greatly missed. Work will never be the same. He was taken from this earth at such an early age. May God Bless Rachel and family in this very difficult time.

Andy, I look forward to meeting you on this great morning of the resurrection of the saints of all ages, on this long-awaited day when the dead in Christ shall rise first to meet our Lord in the clouds; and those who will be alive shall be caught up to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus-Christ in the air. And together we will be with our Lord Jesus-Christ forever (I Thessalonians 4:13-17). May our Lord’s angels watch over your family, dear brother!

We are so very sorry for your great loss. We love you and will continue to pray for your family.

I was at Northland 1995-1998. Always appreciated the warmth and kind gesture towards my wife and I. It was impactful because as foreign students we were far from home and culture. Truly in Christ, we have a common love and bond. Our paths do not always cross, but when they do, I can’t help but said “that’s a fine young man in Christ.” Our hearts ache for the family but comforted that the day will surely come when Christ our Lord calls us to meet Him in the air. That’ll be wonderful reunion for all. May our Lord wraps His loving arms around the Clapp family to comfort them; speaks words of hope through His Word to all. With love & prayers.
