Obituary

Betty Lou Barrett-Bratty, 82, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 11, 1939 to John and Evelyn Werner. She went to meet our heavenly father on November 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by love.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had 11 siblings growing up and knew she always wanted a large family. Betty lived a quiet life with her husband, John Bratty, until his passing in October 2011. She was than blessed by living with family in Michigan, Missouri and Alabama. She enjoyed spending time with her family, being in nature, reading and cooking. It was a tradition to have her famous spaghetti with meat sauce on family visits. Betty enjoyed shopping and would have a pair of shoes to match every outfit perfectly.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Barbara Ciantro. She is survived by her brother Charles (Denise Werner), sister Jeanette (Larry Hegwood), sons Douglas Carter, Robert (Blanca Carter) and daughter Betty (Joseph McCluskey). She also leaves a great legacy of 5 grandchildren; Nicolo (Kristen Ciantro), Amanda (Mario Torres), Alex (Emily Carter), Cassie, Daniel and 6 great-grandchildren; Nicolo, Barbara, Talia, Amelia, Mariana and Sam.
She will be missed by all who knew her. A visitation will be on December 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM with the funeral to follow at 2:00 PM at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, MO

Mom — I miss you! I treasure your bright smile, sense of humor, love for your family, warm heart, infectious laughter, sense of style, passion for food, and enthusiasm for life. You have made a lasting impact on me, and I hold your love in my heart. My deepest condolences to all your loved ones — we carry your spirit in our hearts!

My mom was one of my best friends. I called her every day. I will miss my mom more than I can express in words. The day my mom went up to heaven, she took a piece of my heart with her. Betty McCluskey

I can’t even imagine life without my mom. My mom was always there for me during the good and bad times in my life. I enjoyed every minute I shared with my mom. We had the best time with my mom when we took her to the smoky mountains. Betty McCluskey

Rob,
My heart felt condolences to you and your loved ones. When my mom went to heaven, it left a void in my life. I miss her physical presence, but she is with me always in my thoughts and heart. I think of her often and smile as I remember the little things like the time she made me wash my crayon art from the wall. Cherish your memories of her as they will be with you always and are one of your greatest treasures.

Dear Rob and family,
My deepest sympathies on losing your mother. It is one of the hardest things to lose the one person you have been tethered to since birth. Even though I did not personally know your mother, I am positive that she would have felt a great accomplishment in raising a son such as yourself who is kind, family oriented and always has a great attitude when dealing with others.
Take care,
Lisa Burdick

Rob- I’m so sorry for your loss and I wish I had the right words to say during this time but always know a mother’s love is alive forever. In the lessons she taught, the patience she gave, and in the hearts of the children she raised. My prayers go out to you in this time of great sadness.
