Obituary

Cecil John “Cec” Schilmoeller, age 79, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away May 9, 2018, peacefully at home. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 16 at Our Lady of the Presentation Church in Lee’s Summit at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Cecil was born January 9, 1939 in Granville, Iowa. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He worked for United Parcel Service for over 30 years, and later worked as a courier for LabCorp. Cec loved his family, he loved fishing and he loved the Chiefs, the Jayhawks and especially the Kansas City Royals. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Trudy Schilmoeller of Algona, Iowa. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 54 years, Patricia; children Julie (Robert) Grant of Kansas City; Jan (Eric) Gilbert of Smithville; John (Jane) Schilmoeller of Andover, Kansas; and Joy (Taylor) McCammon of Beaverton, Oregon; siblings Cordell (Frances) Schilmoeller of Springdale, Arkansas; Carol Hemmen of Algona, Iowa; and Lloyd (Barbara) Schilmoeller of Algona, Iowa. He also is survived by four grandchildren: Andrea (John) Hoover of Overland Park, Kansas; Robert L. Grant of Kansas City; Jackson Schilmoeller of Lawrence, Kansas; and Jacob Schilmoeller of Manhattan, Kansas; and two great grandchildren, Nora and Ezra Hoover of Overland Park, Kansas, whom he loved dearly.

Cecil was a fine man with a sweet soul. He showed love to his family and helped others when he could. The world was a better place because of Cecil. Now he is in our Lord’s hands. Blessings to his lovely family until they meet again in God’s kingdom.

My condolences to the family of Cecil . I last seen him at my brother Msgr Roger’s funeral but didn’t have much time to visit he was the same age as I am. May he Rest In Peace!

I have good memories of him as he always took the time to share his experience of the business with me when I first got into management. I appreciated his kindness. Cec and I worked together many years as part of UPS management both in Iowa and Kansas. I retired after 31 years, we shared a lot of history and fond work memories together. Cec was a wonderful man, so well-respected by all who worked “with and for him”—-always had a big smile for everyone. HE WAS ONE OF THE GOOD GUYS—-Condolences to all of his family. Larry and Mary

I’m so sorry to have to see this message of your loved one’s passing here! Had no idea Cecil had died! Wish we had a better communication outlet in our neighborhood. I stopped both newspapers last year since delivery was hit & miss. Very sorry for your loss….way too soon for such a loved one.
