Obituary

Dorothy C. Parker (Rains) was born on January 27, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri.  She was the 3rd of 4 children.  She attended Southeast High School, then Kansas City Business College.  She married Everett L. Parker in 1948; they had one child, a daughter, Linda.

Dorothy was a court reporter and worked in the Jackson County Circuit Court, then in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, before she established her own reporting business.  She loved the law and the people she worked with and for, but she loved even more her family and her Lord Jesus Christ.  It was her lifelong desire to live for Jesus and bring glory to His name, which she did throughout her life.  She had a big heart for Christian missions and loved giving to others, which she did joyfully.  She attended and was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Marshall and son-in-law Barry Marshall, and by numerous friends and loved ones.  She was preceded in death by her husband Everett Parker; her parents Roscoe and Elsa Rains; and her siblings Roger Rains, Jean Shanholtzer, and Stephen Rains.

You will be missed but we know that you are rejoicing with Jesus. Love , Jeannie Shamholtzer.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a lovely, sweet, caring lady in every sense of t word. Her goodness radiated from her. She is with the Lord now. Thanks be to God

Well known for her cheerful greetings, and coming with a smile, Aunt Dorothy was gracious and generous, always encouraging, kind, and considerate.
For our family, she was the end of a generation. She was the last to leave;
turn off the lights, shut the door,
it’s the end of an era, there are no more…
no more like her, that’s for sure.
The spirit of her testimony will endure.
