Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Couch was born on October 26, 1931, to Amiel and Bertha Pieper in Richmond, Missouri. She went to her home in heaven on August 8, 2018. She was baptized on February 28, 1932, and confirmed on March 25, 1945, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Independence. Betty graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1949. On April 3, 1959, she married Bob Couch at Messiah and enjoyed 49 years together until his death in 2008. Now they’re together forever. She was a secretary for Safeway Stores in the construction department before her retirement to become a full-time mom. It was at Safeway where she met Bob. As Bob was transferred with his job, Betty also lived in Butte, Montana, and Omaha, Nebraska. They returned to Kansas City in 1981 and settled in Lee’s Summit. She was active in LWML, taught Sunday School, regular attendee of Bible classes, and was a hospital volunteer. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She is predeceased by her parents and husband Bob. She is survived by daughter Stephanie and her friend Kevin Lindeman and cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Special thanks goes to the caregivers at Stratford Commons Memory Care and Crossroads Hospice. Visitation will be Monday, August 13, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 700 NE Chipman Road, Lee’s Summit.
Our sorrow and sadness is now but we rejoice knowing that she is once again with Uncle Bob. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and please remember… Its not “Goodbye” but “See you later”. God is good.
