Dan was born on December 29, 1962 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Friend & Mentor. Dan’s passions were hunting fishing, gardening and mentoring anyone who wanted to learn. He recently discovered kayaking and finished a 340 mile race. He would rather spend a day hunting turkey, deer, mushrooms or fishing. He enjoyed making turkey calls. He loved teaching people how to make them and how to use the calls. He shared shared countless turkey calls with many people. The only payment requirement was a photo of their successful hunt. He loved people and a party. He was generous with his time in many ways
without limitation. He was a role model and father figure. He loved mentoring veterans and children, teaching many of them to hunt. His love for hunting was equal to his love for fishing. His gardens, over the years, fed an entire city. Dan was full of life and loved a challenge. Dan served as President of Heartland Longbeards Chapter of NWTF. The song “Huntin’, Fishin’ & Lovin’ Everyday” truly expressed how
Dan lived.

Dan was so full of life! I have wonderful memories of the visits we had with him in Missouri. He was an excellent host and exuded hospitality. I’m glad he was able to enjoy his passions until the end. He will be missed.

“Dan’s passions were hunting fishing, gardening and mentoring anyone who wanted to learn.”

I am married to one of Dan’s many nieces and am a testament to the statement above. My fondest memories of Dan were a result of him inviting me to join in on family fishing adventures at the lake and I will forever be grateful for the way that he made me feel included, as if I was his part of the family from the beginning.

Alsiha, we have been praying for peace and comfort for you and the family in the recent days, and will continue to do so in the days to come. Dan will be missed, but his memory will stay with me forever, and each time I wet a line, I am certain that memory will be top of mind!

My deepest condolences to your family! I have only known Mr. Dan, aka Guito, through Deer Creek office center for about 1 year. He was such a nice man! He frequently shared his Kayaking excursions with me in passing and tried to get me to try it out with him. We talked wine, garden and kayaking over the year that I knew him. He was an amazing man and I am so sorry for your loss!

Everytime you talked to or met with Dan it was always pleasant and positive. HIS dedication to what he believed in was obvious. HE WILL BE MISSED.

Our most sincerest sympathy to my sister-in-law Judy and her entire family in this most difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs and Love

Dan gave many years of service to Musselman & Hall Contractors. He was not only a wonderful employee but a great friend. He will be missed.

Sorry we are out of town and unable to attend the services.

Alisha,

I am so sorry for your loss, Dan was a great friend that was always there when someone was in need. He will truly be missed.

I did not get to know Dan very well as we were simply co-tenants in an office building together. He was always friendly and during our office pot luck meals we would sometimes have, he was always bringing in some of his homemade spice jellies to share and even send home with fellow workers. I still have a mason jar in my refrigerator @ home that I need to finish and return the jar! I didn’t know we both shared a love of kayaking and wish I would have known him better. Way too young to already be gone.

So sorry to hear of your loss. He was a wonderful person. I pray your family can celebrate his wonderful life far into the future.

He was a great guy, and good friend. He will be missed! God be with his family and friends! But we will all meet again!

Just heard of Dan’s passing. Big hugs to the drake family. Dan was a great, kind, caring man with a great passion for conservation! Godspeed Dan Drake!
