Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce the death of James M. Thomason of Lee’s Summit, MO. He was surrounded by his family when he passed away peacefully on March 26, 2023.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 6, 1941, to the late Marvin and Evelyn Thomason, Jim was educated at Southwest High School in Kansas City, MO and at the University of Kansas. He was an interior designer and was a facilities manager for Marion Merrill Dow.

Jim’s gentle demeanor masked a quick-witted tongue that made him an unsuspecting source of humor enjoyed by all. A lifelong Jayhawks fan, loyal Royals fan and thankful Chiefs fan, Jim loved all sports and spent countless hours rooting for his teams. He loved fishing, camping and was a proud Boy Scout for life. Jim dedicated his time to serving his community through scouting which allowed him to spend many summers at H Roe Bartle Boy Scout Camp, first as a scout, then as a parent and finally as a member of the staff. Scouting wasn’t just a hobby for Jim, it was his true passion, second only to his family. He was Sachem in The Tribe-of-Mic-O-Say.

Jim married the love of his life, Pam on May 3, 1970, and they remained married till death did they part. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Michael, Jim was survived by his wife Pam, sons Jeff (Shannon), Brian (Emmilee) and Steven (Andrea), grandchildren Tyler, Ethan, Trinity, Augustine, Lauren, Conner, Harper and Ameila.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention by visiting afsp.org.

Services will be held at Langsford Funeral Home on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.

My heart is broken. I always felt like Jim was my buddie. His quick humor was a delight. The laughs we have shared when You, Pam & I were together will be remembered. I’ll miss you when Pam & I go out the door to go shopping. You always had a quick comment about our being together and going shopping but you knew that Pam & I always had fun…

I am so sincerely sorry for you loss . Jim was so kind, sweet and giving . He will be missed .

Much Love
Kelly
