Obituary
James Steven Capoot, 62, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away surrounded by his family on December 1, 2018 following a brief illness. He was born in Kansas City, MO to James and Janiece Capoot on October 24, 1956.
Steve co-owned The First Ward House bar in St. Joseph, MO for several years. After selling the bar to his partner, he worked for many years at Excel Linen Supply Company as a route supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the beach, spending time at his lake house and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his kind heart and his fun-loving attitude toward life.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Janiece Capoot. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Julie Capoot (Kessler); father, James Capoot; sons, Calvin Layden, Jr. (Danielle), Michael Layden; grandsons, Calvin Layden, III, Clayton Layden, Cole Layden, and Chase Layden, all of Lee’s Summit, MO.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 6pm – 8pm at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, MO. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11am at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, MO. Memorial contributions can be made in Steve’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
