Obituary

Jeffrey William Simmons from Lee’s Summit, MO passed away May 28, 2021 at the age of 49.

Jeff was born on August 20, 1971 in Windsor, MO. He graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1989 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from UMKC, afterward pursuing a long career in sales.

Jeff is survived by his parents, Jim Simmons and Mary Ann Simmons; his three sisters, Janann Cook and her husband Chris, Jordan Glynn and her husband Travis, Jenna Oldham and her husband Zach; and his eight nieces and nephews, Alexis Saforek, Madison Cook, Landon Cook, Elli Potter, Michael Potter, Cole Potter, Tyler Oldham, and Izzy Oldham.

He will be forever remembered by not just his family, but by the many close friends he made throughout his life.

Jeff had a smile that could light up a room. He was outgoing and fun-loving, and relished spending time with his family and friends.

To say Jeff loved sports, music, and animals would be an understatement. Those were his lifelong passions. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Jeff knew he was always looking forward to the next sporting event or concert he could attend.

Jeff was loved by many people (and lots of dogs, too!). He will be deeply missed by all.

A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 on June 26, 2021 with a visitation starting at 11:00 at the Lee’s Summit Christian Church.

The family asks that those attending the service honor Jeff by wearing something that reminds you of him. Keep it informal and fun: It could be a sports hat or jersey (Chiefs, Royals, Jayhawks, Cornhuskers!), a concert t-shirt, or even a certain color—and jeans and shorts are completely appropriate. It’s important to the family that we celebrate Jeff’s life the way he would want to be remembered.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jeff’s name to Wayside Waifs at 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64137

Sorry you your loss you’re in my thoughts and prayers. Jeff will be missed, he was a great guy!

I loved Jeff and had a close relationship with him to the end – we talked frequently by phone during the pandemic when he wasn’t getting out much. He also cared a lot about me. I have been partnered with his father for 15 years, he thought of me as family and told me so often! Both foodies, we shared a lot of menus and recipes. I will miss our heart-to-heart talks!!

I absolutely loved Jeff. He was like a brother to me. He was definitely loved so much and he always greeted me with a big hug. Prayers and love to you all. I will never forget Jeff.

Sorry for your loss. Jeff was a great guy and will be missed by all.

We share so many memories of Jeff, Janann and Jordan from the old neighborhood! We’ll hold dear to our hearts the precious life of Jeff!
My heartfelt condolences.

My condolences to Jeff’s family and loved ones. He left an impression on so many and will be missed.

There will never be a young neighborhood such as Richardson Place, ever again! The children and their parents were all such good chums, one big family. Among them, was the Simmons family! We were always there for one another, as we are now. Mary Ann, Janann and Jordan, we know you can’t imagine life without Jeff, and we ache for you. We’re so very sorry for you and all the family, and are keeping you close in our thoughts and prayers.

I was so shocked to hear of Jeff’s passing, as I know so many of us were. It’s hard to think of him not with us any more. I will miss chatting him up on FB and teasing him about life. Jeff was a super great guy that had a real zest for life. I know he’s up there looking down while banging his head and Rocking out 🤘 smiling all the while 😇
I’m gonna miss you Simmons!

Dear Jim and Mary and daughters,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I know the heartache of losing a son. Please accept my deepest sympathy. God bless you and your family.

Jeff was such a fun-loving and kind person. I have some happy memories of growing up with him and his beautiful smiling face. The first time I saw him I thought he looked like Emilo Estevez on Breakfast Club. I will always remember him just like that.

Much love to you all especially his wonderful mama!

No words can say how sorry I am for your loss. In my mind’s eye, your Jeff will always be that handsome young man with dimples who looked just like his momma!!
Much love to you all!
