Obituary

Mary Christine Chesnut, 88, of Lee’s Summit, Mo., passed away peacefully in the early hours Monday, January 30, 2023 at her home.

She was born on December 21, 1934 to Burton and Bessie Cochran in Union, Arkansas. On September 21, 1951 she was married to Boyce (Cap) L. Chesnut, her husband of 71 years.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God church in Lee’s Summit, Mo.

Christine was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took great comfort and inspiration through her deep faith, time spent studying her Bible, fellowship with her church family and prayer. Lots of prayer. Much of her warm weather free time was spent rooting for her beloved Kansas City Royals. She was an avid cook and always ready to deliver a crock pot or dessert dish at church fellowship functions.

Christine is survived by her husband Boyce, three children, Chip Chesnut of Lee’s Summit, Vonda (Chesnut) Accurso of Raymore and Chuck Chesnut of Dardenne Prairie, Mo. And eleven grandchildren and 19 Great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Bessie, and brothers, Jewel Cochran, Marshall Cochran, Harlan Cochran, Junior Cochran and sister Margene (Cochran) Morris.

A special “Thank You” to Aging in Place and Traditions Hospice for their wonderful loving care.

Services have been entrusted to Langsford Funeral Home 115 SW 3rd St. Lee’s Summit, Mo. 64063

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2nd at 1pm

A memorial service will be held at 2pm.

Burial will immediately follow at Belton Cemetery, 710 S. Scott Ave, Belton, Mo. 64012

Christine was such a sweet and kind lady. She was a wonderful mother-in-law to my daughter. She will be missed.
